Latest news!

(august 29, 2007)

Finaly after 3 years this beautiful project for tsunami victims will be realized. Watch the photo's!

The works in Thonirevu have started !!

More information and feedback: just a click away (photo 1 and photo 2). Our next visit of our project : Feb.19

Now it’s a fact !

SOS Sadish is the first foreign private organisation that has received the permission of the Indian government to adopt a whole fishermen’s community, in the region struck by the tsunami!

Mon got the good news from Abu Dhabi from his best friend Marc Vanden Reeck (Ambassador of Belgium). During a meeting our ambassador had with his Indian colleague, Mr. Sudhir Vyas, Ambassador for India in Abu Dhabi, has explained him “our story” and “our expectations” in a diplomatic way. Mr. Vyas contacted immediately the responsible persons whom Mon met two weeks ago.

With result: the Ambassador of India in Abu Dhabi has informed with great joy his Belgian colleague that the association “SOS Sadish” from Belgium/France has received the recognition to adopt New Nemmeli Kuppam!

It appears from the article from the Hindu Times hereunder from January 17, that it is not so self-evident.

It seems that everybody is concerned by the project SOS Sadish. This appears from the many reactions and the massive response to our appeal. That it is really an exceptional project appears from these considerations from the originator.

of this action: Mon Van der Biest. It is also obvious that there is no way back ..

Our project is already called an “exemplary” project.

In the meantime Mon is back from his short visit to Mamallapuram. Hereunder you can follow his experiences step by step ...

Result and perspective of the actions:

  • The board of directors of Belasia has decided not only to give 5 % of the entrance fees of the Asia Fair to SOS Sadish, but also € 1 per cocktail which will be consumed at the cocktail bar.
  • The workgroup Cooperation for development of the municipal board of Sint –Pieters-Leeuw has also decided to support the project SOS Sadish in a concrete way. The engagement would also be a long-term engagement. The motivation to support our project is due to the fact that it is a “tangible” project. Thank you St. Pieters Leeuw. You will read more about this soon...;
  • Cheers! At the initiative of the Rector of the Campus Prof. Dr. Paul Vanden Abeele and the students priest Guido Cooman all the guests at the New Years reception of the KU Leuven – Campus Kortrijk, were served a glass of water. This gave some fantastic original pictures ... The difference between the drinks normally offered  (fruit juice, white and red wine, Champaign,..) and the glasses of water gave a result of 570 €.
  • The “Joy Sowers” from Luxembourg gave € 10.000 to SOS Sadish.
  • The municipality of Veurne : € 2.500 (see newspaper cutting)
  • The primary school of St. Jozef Overmere € 819,06
  • The city of Lichtervelde has, under the impulse of the family Goddyn, started several actions. Their enthusiasm has apparently attracted a lot of people, because they have already collected more than 10.000 € !!! The primary school (€ 582,76), the Social Fund (€100), the burning of the Christmas trees (€499,90), Davidsfonds Lichtervelde (€ 256), sale of apples (€ 5040), municipal primary school (€ 1480,50), local units of KWB (€750), the municipality of Lichtervelde € 1000), all these actions brought grist to the mill for SOS Sadish. To everyone: thank you!
  • Michèle Jacques sold lasagne with her students from the school in Liège . They collected € 899,3. This summer they are going to India under the guidance of Mon Van der Biest.
  • Henk Van der Laan from the Netherlands collected with his colleagues € 1000 for our project.
  • Under the impulse of Rita & Luc Dubois-Segers the International Executive Gourmet Leisure Club has sold bottles of wine; the result was € 450. Someone from their friends who offered each year to his customers with New Year a box of chocolates, restricted it this year to one “symbolic” chocolate and the difference goes to SOS Sadish.
